Recently, the International Cooperation Bureau of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) issued a notice that the China-Thai fungal-derived drug pilot discovery project, chaired by Professor Liu Jikai of the School of Pharmacy, was approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Thailand Research Foundation in 2019. The Chinese-Thai fungus-derived drug discovery project mainly extracts and structurally modifies natural active compounds from fungi to develop anti-infection and immunomodulatory drugs to fully tap and search for leading compounds in edible fungi. The project's Thai partner is Masahiko Isaka of the International Research Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Thailand, funded by the Thai side. The budget for the project is 2.6 million yuan. Since 2015, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Thailand Research Foundation have jointly funded cooperative research projects to promote scientific progress between the two countries. The cooperative research project in 2019 is carried out in the three fields of "natural products and drug discovery "," biodiversity" and "climate change ". A total of 8 projects have been approved, and Professor Liu Jikai of our school has been approved as one of the three approved projects of" natural products and drug discovery ".
