On May 31, and at the invitation of Professor Lei Xinsheng of our institute, Cao Chunyang, of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, came to our college for academic exchanges, and made an academic report entitled``Research on the Drug Discovery and Weak Interaction Mechanism Based on NMR'' . The report shall be presided over by Vice President Lei Xinsheng. Cao Chunyang has long been committed to carrying out the research on chemical biology and structural biology with health and disease orientation and NMR as the main technical means, and has profound academic knowledge in the chemical biology of disease-related proteins and nucleic acids. In this report, Mr. Cao introduced that his research group took G4DNA from the tumor factor RET startup region as the target, and obtained 87 possible small molecules from 2334 small molecule libraries by molecular simulation, and further screened by NMR technology and CD technology to obtain nine bound small molecules. In the second part, he introduced the drug screening of BK ion channel target protein related to epilepsy disease, combined with micro heat surge and electrophysiology experiments, confirmed the key site of interaction between hβloop and polypeptide toxin M1 binding complex of BK channel, and revealed the molecular mechanism of M1 toxin to regulate BK channel activity. Through the investigation of inhibition efficiency of PTZ epilepsy model in rats, it showed that recombinant M1 toxin has good anti-epilepsy efficacy and provided the basis for developing BK channel as target drug design. Mr. Cao's wonderful report, especially the research content of drug screening and design, has attracted the strong interest of the teacher and classmates here. Dr. Huang Rong, the director of the Department of Chemistry Biology, and the students conducted in-depth exchanges and discussion with the teacher Cao.
