On the morning of July 2, the School of Pharmacy held a signing ceremony for the appointment of a specially appointed professor at Tokyo University. President Li Jinlin, Deputy Director of Personnel Department Zhang Peng, as well as the party and government team of the School of Pharmacy, relevant teachers and students attended the meeting. Professor Liu Jikai, President of the College of Pharmacy, presided over the meeting. Prior to the appointment ceremony, President Liu Jikai of the College of Pharmacy introduced Professor Abe's academic experience and research overview. Subsequently, Professor Li Jinlin, President of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a certificate of appointment to Professor Abe. Professor Lee King-Lin then gave a warm welcome to Professor Abe's admission to our school. He pointed out that our school has distinctive characteristics and has a good development concept and scientific research foundation, and believes that the arrival of Professor Abe will bring new thinking, inject new vitality and create new achievements for the development of the College of Pharmacy. At the same time, the school also strives to create a good atmosphere and conditions to ensure that Professor Abe can work at ease and produce more results. Subsequently, professor abe gave an academic report on "Engineered Biosynthesis of Medicinal Natural Products ". At the beginning of the report, Professor Abe detailed several examples of the synthesis of plant polyphenols using class III polyketonase, using synthetic biology as an example for efficient synthesis of artemisinin. Subsequently, Professor Abe described his group's biosynthesis pathways in fungal mixed-source terpenoids and some key enzymes and their functions in recent years. such as the new cyclase/isomerase trt14 in the process of tertonin biosynthesis; non-heme divalent iron/α-ketoglutarate bifunctional oxidase and and prha; and the specific isomerase nvfe in the process of novofumatomin biosynthesis, etc. During the lecture, the teachers and students listened and recorded carefully. After the lecture, the relevant teachers and students conducted in-depth academic discussions with Professor Abe. The report was rich in content and well-defined, and was well received by teachers and students.
