On November 2, the Hubei Association for Science and Technology released the second batch of "Hubei Popular Science Education Bases". According to the relevant provisions of the Measures for the Recognition and Management of Hubei Popular Science Education Bases (EKXB [2018] No. 47), through the application, recommendation, expert review and other procedures, our medical botanical garden was successfully approved as "Hubei Popular Science Education Base (2022-2026)".
The Medicinal Botanical Garden is located in Huangpi District, covering an area of more than 200 mu. Its main function is to collect, preserve and display the medicinal plant germplasm resources, and provide the society with living specimens of medicinal plants that are popular, diverse, cultural and ornamental. The design of the park focuses on the integration of the principles of national medicine. With the goal of "Keke is a herb, each plant can cure diseases, flowers bloom every month, and each step is a landscape", after more than five years of construction, the park has significantly improved its planting scale, plant types, supporting facilities, landscape construction, reception capacity, etc., and has collected nearly 100000 kinds of medicinal plants, becoming the largest medicinal botanical garden in Wuhan and surrounding areas at present; The practice activities are becoming more and more abundant. In the past three years, it has received 30000 visitors from inside and outside the school, giving full play to the functions of popularizing scientific knowledge, promoting Chinese medicine culture, enhancing interactive experience, and improving students' practical ability.
The person in charge of the base, Associate Professor Li Xiaojun of the College of Pharmacy, said that he would seriously refer to the relevant requirements of the Identification and Management Measures of Hubei Popular Science Education Base, constantly improve the software and hardware conditions, increase efforts to carry out activities such as Chinese herbal medicine identification and efficacy awareness, Chinese herbal medicine production, Chinese herbal medicine production, health knowledge lectures, actively serve students' practical training and labor education, serve the transformation of production, learning and research achievements and pilot test of the school, and strive to build a foothold in Central China A first-class science popularization education base radiating across the country, making positive contributions to the development and growth of science popularization education.
